Khalid Koujili, Don't make it about you

master drama

NL

In Don’t make it about you stellen zij vragen:

In Don’t make it about you delen zij hun ervaring met het publiek.

EN

“Representation of the world, like the world itself, is the work of men; they describe it from their own point of view, which they confuse with absolute truth.” (Simone de Beauvoir)

Half a century later, three young actors observe the same thing with a slightly different nuance. In Don’t make it about you they ask al sorts of questions: Does theatre really represent society? If theatre can be a representation, how does it relate to reality? How can we, as non-white actors, translate a role written for and by white people? For whom is theatre actually made? Don’t make it about you is about sharing their experiences with the audience.
